In 1976 the Frankenmuth Jaycees hosted their first race event in recognition of our country's 200th birthday. That race was organized by Janette and Bill Hart, and Bob Warnick.
In those days, events were low tech! Flyers were printed and mailed to schools and sporting good stores, and posters were plastered around town. Seven miles was the distance of this first race event, with a total of 180 excited runners. Our overall winners were Alexa Kraft (Grosse Point) and Ed Griffiths (Kalamazoo).
